White (Tooth-Colored) Fillings

Get rid of old, ugly
metal fillings.

Until recently you had no choice about the color of your fillings. Now you can have old silver or gold fillings replaced with nearly invisible porcelain or resin restorations.
Other advantages - they can be bonded to the teeth which gives a tighter seal and adds more strength to the tooth. When placing silver fillings, the dentist must remove "good" tooth along with the decay. This is not necessary with white fillings.

Whitening

Often the difference between a good smile and a great smile is the whiteness of the teeth.

Over time, most teeth lose their luster and brightness because they accumulate stains made by foods and beverages. New whitening agents can remove these stains without harming your teeth.

By far, the best and fastest whitening solutions are offered by your dentist. During a typical whitening procedure, your dentist will fabricate a custom tray to hold whitening gel against your teeth. You take the trays home and wear the gel-filled trays each night or for several hours during the day for several weeks.

Dentists can also bleach teeth in the office. This is called power bleaching or laser bleaching. Both techniques work equally well and are offered both as a "jump start" prior to home whitening and as a separate "stand alone" procedure.

While you can get over-the-counter whitening kits, they usually aren't as effective as professional whitening procedures. Because over-the-counter trays are not custom fitted, the whitening agent may leak out and irritate your gums. Want a whiter smile? Ask us about dental whitening.

All-Porcelain Bridge

Instead of placing a bridge made of porcelain with a metal base, which, years later can often result in unsightly dark lines at the gumline. Your dentist can now restore your smile with an all-porcelain bridge.

An all-porcelain bridge still uses adjacent teeth for support, but will not show a dark line where the bridge meets the gums. Many all-porcelain bridges can be bonded in place which gives a tighter seal and more accurate fit.

All-Ceramic Crowns

Before
After

All-porcelain crowns (also called caps) are a beautiful, long-lasting choice. The procedure involves reducing and carefully shaping the supporting tooth, creating an impression from which a model of the prepared teeth are made, and having the crown fabricated (usually in a dental lab), then fitting and permanently cementing or bonding the crown in place.

Crowns made of porcelain with a metal base do not look as natural and may eventually result in a noticeable dark line at the gums.

Bonding

Bonding is an excellent way to repair or change the shape or color of teeth, particularly front teeth. Bonding is usually a one-appointment procedure that starts with a careful matching of the color of the bonding materials to your tooth color.

Next, your teeth are lightly roughened and a gel is applied to ensure that the bonding materials will adhere. Then the bonding material is applied, sculpted and hardened with a high-intensity light. The final step is a careful polishing of your new teeth. Bonding is great to reshape and lighten the color of teeth to make your smile brighter, vibrant and youthful.

Braces

Braces aren't just for kids anymore!

Braces are often the ideal way to straighten teeth - especially when teeth are severely crowded - but you must be willing to wear braces for one to three years. Orthodontics is now a very common procedure for adults; in fact, 40 percent of orthodontic treatments are on adults.

In addition to the standard silver brackets, braces are now available with small, clear or gold brackets that are bonded directly to the front of the teeth. These new small brackets eliminate that "metal mouth" look previously associated with braces.

Invisalign

FDA approved Invisalign is the “invisible” way to straighten your teeth without wearing conventional metal braces. Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable custom-made aligners to move your teeth. Because you remove your aligners before you eat and drink, there are no food restrictions or problems with flossing or brushing. This technology is also more comfortable, avoiding the mouth abrasions that can be caused by the metal and wires of conventional braces. And this technology is also more convenient, since you are likely to spend less time in the doctor’s office getting adjustments.

Invisalign uses 3-D computer imaging technology to design the complete treatment plan, from the initial teeth positioning to the desired final positioning. This 3-D imaging allows you to preview the final positioning of your teeth before you start treatment. Custom-made aligners are created based on the imaging information. Each of these aligners moves teeth incrementally and is worn for about 2 weeks. Typically, you will visit your dentist once every 6 weeks for “progress reports.” Not every situation can be treated with Invisalign, so call the office to get an evaluation to see if you can be helped with this new technology. Porcelain Veneers

Porcelain veneers are custom-crafted, fingernail-thin porcelain shells that are bonded to natural teeth.

Because of their subtle color and near transparency, porcelain veneers can make a dramatic and very natural-looking improvement to your smile.

Dental Implants

If you have experienced tooth loss, you are not alone. According to the American Dental Association, more than 20 million people in the United States are missing all of their natural teeth, and more than 100 million are missing from 11 to 15 teeth. In 1997, dental professionals performed more than 500,000 dental implant procedures worldwide.

Dental implants offer a permanent solution to missing teeth. For over 30 years, dental implants have brought naturally beautiful, confident smiles to patients. A dental implant is a small titanium screw or cylinder which is surgically placed in the upper or lower jawbone. The implant replaces the root of the missing tooth, providing an anchor for your new tooth/teeth. Many patients choose dental implants over other procedures because the permanent result is a natural appearance.

Single Tooth Replacement

Robert Hernandez
Age 50

Front tooth replaced after softball injury

"After I lost my front tooth, I was embarrassed to smile even when I was doing the things I loved. A friend suggested a dental implant because it looks natural and is the only option which is permanent. Within two months, I had my new tooth. When I tell people I had a front tooth replaced, they say "which one?" Now that's something to smile about."

Implant Supported Dentures

Frank Hoffman
Age 50
Implants permanently anchor dentures

"I was tired of my dentures always slipping. It was embarrassing and I was uncomfortable talking and eating with others. Adhesives were difficult to use and they never seemed to work. I visited my doctor who suggested dental implants. The procedure was easy and now my dentures stay in place no matter where I am or what I eat."

Multiple Tooth Replacement

Susie Stewart
Age 41
Several back teeth replaced due to periodontal disease and tooth decay

"I've had my dental implants for over 10 years and I haven't stopped smiling. My doctor and I chose dental implants because I wanted my new teeth to look and feel natural. Other treatment options involved cutting down healthy teeth, and that scared me. There was nothing scary about dental implants; in fact, I have recommended implants to many of my friends."

Implants - The Permanent Solution

Single Tooth and Multiple Tooth Replacement

Because dental implants replace the tooth root and serve as an anchor, your new tooth/teeth are secured directly on the implant. This treatment allows teeth to be restored naturally, without harming or involving your surrounding teeth.

Small metal posts are connected to the implant, allowing the replacement tooth to be permanently secured with dental cement or a small screw.

Implant Supported Dentures

Dental implants can also be placed to permanently anchor and support partial or full dentures, eliminating the need for dental adhesives. Enjoy having the confidence to eat the foods you previously avoided.
Dentures can be supported with either a bar/clip or ball/socket attachment for removal, allowing for regular cleaning.

Traditional Forms of Treatment

Other Options May Damage
Healthy Teeth

Other options, such as traditional crown and bridge procedures, may involve cutting down healthy adjacent teeth to anchor the restoration.

Other Options May Be Uncomfortable

Appliances that require adhesives may be uncomfortable and may slip while talking or eating. In addition, metal clasps may be visible, resulting in poor esthetics.

Treatment Advancements

Recent innovations like the development of OSSEOTITE® implants have greatly improved implant procedures. This implant has a patented surface to enhance healing in less time. OSSEOTITE has an overall success rate of 98.4% and has proven in many cases to reduce treatment time to as little as two months.

Treatment Ease

Your dentist will perform a complete examination involving x-rays to determine if implants are right for you. Once your specific needs are assessed, your doctor will schedule a consultation. Together, you will discuss your options and decide which treatment plan is best for you. Depending on your needs, your treatment may be completed in three steps.

STEP 1

The Surgeon places an OSSEOTITE implant(s) into your jawbone. The implant replaces the natural tooth root and provides structural support.

STEP 2

The Restoring Doctor will make models of your mouth. The models will be sent to the laboratory to create your replacement tooth (teeth).

STEP 3

The Restoring Doctor will attach your replacement tooth (teeth). The result is the look and feel of natural teeth. Chewing and speech is restored or improved, while bone structure is preserved
